A winter trip to the Beach

"Is it really January?"

This thought actually ran through my mind as we were sitting on the Oregon coast. No wind, 65 degrees: a perfect escape to the frigid temperatures that have been locked in by the valley fog the past few days.

We got an early start...well, early for six people going to the beach for the day. Drove down to Depot Bay for some watching and shopping. Oh the memories. I just had to let them peruse the stores in search for the perfect treasure. Both chose a bag of rocks as their prize.

And then, instead of spending minutes on the beach only to leave thinking "what were we thinking?" (a scenario I was quite prepared for), we spent the remainder of the time enjoying a wind-free picnic, frolicking in the sand with cousins (Joy and Aaron joined the beach excursion) and running from the waves.

What a wonderful day at the coast. Perhaps we will not wait another 1.5 years to return again.

Were you using the 50mm lens?? I really need to get me one of those!

Wow! Now those pictures REALLY make me wish we would have left behind spring cleaning and went to the beach!

While a clean house and a walk by the river were nice, that looks splendid!

It was great there. Much better than last time when Jake declared that he liked the beach...he just didn't like wind or sand.

And these were taken with my good old point n shoot. (but you should see what Janine has gotten with the 50mm lens!))

Ahh, you were pretty much in my neighborhood! The sad thing is, I didn't get to the beach myself this weekend. Well, maybe today...

Love the photos!

Oh how I miss the WA and OR coastlines! Maybe this summer we can get up there and introduce Noah W. to the pacific ocean...
