MLK and My Life

I wonder today, while reflecting on the accomplishments of Martin Luther King Jr, just how my life would be different without him.

I am not speaking of laws or policies. Who goes to school where or who drinks from what fountain.

What I wonder is more personal. Closer to home.

Had the wide river of society continued in its racist course, would I fall into the same sins?  Would you?

The thought is not one I like to consider, but thankfulness abounds for the heart of this man who helped shape the society we live in. A society where beauty is seen in a family such as mine.

I have a dream that...little black boys and black girls with join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers."
-Martin Luther King Jr.
